Will hair extensions damage my hair? Here's the truth.

• Will hair extensions ruin my hair ? Are you hesitant because of horror stories you’ve seen online or heard about from a friend?

• The short answer isā€¦ā€œnoā€ extensions ā€œthemselvesā€ do not damage your hair. Poor installs by an uneducated stylist does. When quality and technique aren't prioritized, that’s when things go wrong. Do your research before choosing who touches your hair.

K-Tips:

• With proper care, a set of K-Tips can last up to 16 weeks between appointments.

• Every maintenance appointment is essentially a fresh start. Everything is removed and new hair that has been freshly bonded is installed.

•Skipping aftercare is another culprit that causes damage. If you are properly cleansing, regularly brushing and ā€œsleeping smartā€ meaning never go to bed with it wet, sleep in a silk bonnet with your hair secured with a scrunchie in a low bun. These are just a few non negotiable guidelines that will set you up for success.

• Here's something most clients don't realize, factory bonds use about 1 g of hair per bond with a heavy amount of keratin packed onto each tab. In low density and fine haired clients that bond size and amount of hair is simply too heavy. This, over time will put strain on the hair, scalp and follicle. This is how breakage, thinning and traction alopecia happen. Your stylist needs to adjust for your texture and density.

Handmade Bonds:

• My bonds are specifically created for each client. They are lighter in weight, precisely sized and density matched . These bonds are handmade, rather than mass produced. I decide how much hair and keratin goes into each and every K-Tip. That difference alone can make or break an install, and essentially determine your hairs safety over the long-term.

Hand Tied:

• I use light weight wefts and never over install. I take head shape into consideration when deciding the placement of the wefts. Also, adding extra hair just to chase fuller, and longer length is one of the fastest ways to strain your scalp, hair and the follicle.

• Bone mapping for placement. Positioning the extensions along the natural ridge of the skull shape helps support the wefts, instead of your hair doing all the work. Proper weight distribution is what keeps your hair and scalp safe.

• If applied by someone who understands scalp and hair health…Yes, extensions are a safe and fantastic way to add length and fullness. If you are on the fence reach out, I would love to chat! Click link below….this is the only way to know what is right for you.
